Sleigh Bells Ring...Are You Listenin'?

So this week officially marks the week where Baby Kiss can hear sounds such as music and dogs barking. I am so excited that it is just in time for Baby Kiss to be able to hear all of the sweet sounds of Christmas music playing...my ultimate favorite! Those little developing ears can also hear the barking sounds of our 2 sweet puppies Bronx and Berkley...so I thought it would be fitting to have them join in in the 17 week photo this week!

How far along? 17 weeks 1 day
Fruit/Veggie Comparison: Onion (5 inches)
Total Weight Gain/ Loss? No weight gain or loss yet...staying consistent with starting weight

Stretch Marks? Nope...still lotioning it up
Sleep: Waking up a few times a night, whether it is because of the puppies, to pee, or just because
Best Moment THIS Week: Putting up the Christmas Tree and holiday decorations with my sweet hubby and drinking Hot Apple Cider listening to Christmas Music (remembering that he has as much Holiday Spirit as I do)....knowing that next year Baby Kiss will be enjoying his/her very 1st Christmas!
Miss Anything? When I feel the urge to grab a caffeine buzz at Starbucks for a Holiday Caramel Brulee Latte, and don't have to worry about the caffeine in take...I can go full out espresso instead of half and half or decaf!
Movement: None yet but I am thinking it will happen soon...we are the size of an ONION for goodness sakes!
Food Cravings: Apple Juice, Apples, Apple Cider...pretty much anything apple, fresh veggies with veggie dip and Salty potato chips with tasty dips like French Onion
Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Lately the smell of dog food and dog poop kind of makes me gag...in addition to swallowing pills totally makes me gag every time

Looking Forward to: Feeling Baby Kiss start to dance in my tummy...they say you should start to feel movement between weeks 16-20...crossing my fingers! :)

Oh So Very Thankful...

So, even though it has been a terrible last 4-5 days, it's okay because I was able to have pure uninterrupted, guilt free rest time! It helped me to heal up (well sort of) in time for Thanksgiving....one of my favorite holidays! I know have my taste buds back and ready for some turkey, gravy, and the Stevens family's FAMOUS stuffing! Soooo excited... you don't even know! Despite the fact that I am still sick, I am working hard to get all of my special fixins ready for the big day! I am working on my Pumpkin Pies, Sweet Potato Crunch, Zucchini Casserole, Cranberry Mellow (Papa Kiss' tasty Holiday treat I love to make, despite the 45 minutes of cranberry slicing it takes, it's so worth it), and Pumpkin Crunch to get ready for all of our Thanksgiving events! Thank goodness to a little Second Trimester Energy Surge! I finished the pies and prep work for the Cranberry Mellow last night and finished the rest this morning! Viola!

However, I COULD NOT have done it without my partner in crime this morning... super sonic slicer, dicer of the veggies...and determined Dishwasher! He was amazing!
So thankful for him!

My sweet Hubby also made a last minute trip to Kroger to grab the much needed Cool Whip for my oh so favorite pumpkin pie, the Thanksgiving Day paper with all of those Black Friday Ads, and a sweet Holiday treat for me and Baby Kiss (1/2 decaf of course). I haven't been drinking caffeine, except for every now and again I have a Coke, and this is only my third Starbucks during the whole pregnancy...I am dying now that their Holiday Caramel Brulee is out...it's my favorite! I think I will frequent the place but go for full decaf so I won't feel guilty about the caffeine! Haha!

Every year, I find more and more things to be thankful for, this year seems to be bursting with things to be thankful for. I am first and foremost so thankful to lead this blessed life each day that the Lord has given me...each new day is a celebration...one that I am oh so thankful to share in! I am so very thankful for the blessed life that Jeff and I lead together each and every day, words cannot express how thankful I am for him and the life that we share. I am at a loss for words when I think about blessed we are to be able to bring Baby Kiss into this world, and share the many blessings of life with him/her! I am thankful that our plan aligned with the Lord's, and we have had the time to prep and prepare for our little one both physically, spititually, and emotionally! We could not be more ready. I am thankful for the love and support of our families, the excitement they share with us, and the love they already shower Baby Kiss with. I am thankful for our friends, who love us and experience all of life's fun with us! Of course I am thankful for ALL that I have each day, and most of all that I have a loving family to share it with!

Happy 16 1/2 weeks to Baby Kiss (I can't wait to give Baby Kiss his/her first experience of my favorite Stevens Family STUFFING) and Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and your families!

How far along? 16 Weeks 3 days
Fruit/Veggie Comparison: Avocado/ Turkey Leg (4 1/2 inches)
Total Weight Gain/ Loss? less than 1 pound, sometimes -1 pound (give or take)
Maternity Clothes? Not quite yet...I bought a Belly Band from Target weeks ago, with the intention of needing it by now, but haven't used it quite yet! Baby Kiss is staying tucked away so far!
Stretch Marks? Nope...and doing all that I can to cream and oil it up now, to help prevent them in the near future!
Sleep: Sleeping great (despite my congestion and cough, can't blame that on the pregnancy though), but I still wake up around 2:30 each night, and then whenever the puppies decide it's time to whine!
Best Moment THIS Week: Being reminded of what an amazing Daddy Jeff is going to be while he took the best care of me as I was down and out, feeling so very yucky for 4 days....I couldn't say thank you to him enough!
Miss Anything? Just the daily luxury to freely eat or drink whatever, whenever, without worrying if the cheese has been pasteurized or if the meat has been heated to the right temperature, etc....oh ya...that reminds me.... I DO MISS fresh, cold cut DELI sandwiches, I would give anything to eat a fresh Subway sandwich, Big Italian from Jersey Mikes, or a #12 from New York Sub Hub!
Movement: None yet...but the OBGYN said this week I should be feeling it soon...usually comes between weeks 16 and 20
Food Cravings: No true ones yet...but I am seriously craving the Stevens Family Stuffing...I do every year from the first of November until Thanksgiving Day!
Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: Can't think of anything
Have you started to show yet: I think it's beginning to show a slight bit, but others surely don't notice yet
Gender: No idea...I am feeling more like a girl...Jeff is still totally hoping boy...3 weeks until our Gender Reveal Party!
Labor Signs: Not yet
Belly Button In or Out? IN, please tell me it will stay there!
Wedding Rings On or Off? ON....love, love, love my husband!
Happy, Emotional, or Moody Most of the Time: Happy as a clam, who is sick :)
Looking Forward to: Thanksgiving Dinner surrounded by my family and introducing Baby Kiss to the Stevens Family Stuffing and Pumpkin Pie lathered in Cool Whip...his/her 2 new addictions and FINALLY and COMPLETELY getting over this silly Fall sickness!

May you all have a very Blessed Thanksgiving full of family and fun!
(Now I am off to celebrate with my beloved family...
minus Mr. Kiss because he has to work and talk to airplanes.)

I've Been Down and Out...

Oh goodness! It has been a while, I know! Crazyness set in as soon as my Thanksgiving Break began! I ended up getting super sick (non-pregnancy related); the same thing I get every year...severe cough, congestion, runny nose, fever, the whole nine yards. Truly the best part about it is that I am in my second trimester, so I don't have to worry so much about taking medication and such. The other plus, is that I am out of school ALL week, so even though on the surface that sounds terrible, it's really a blessing in disguise because I didn't have to worry about using my days off, getting a sub, writing sub plans....much less trying to fight through it and make it in to work. Usually, when I am sick I try and fight through it instead of having to be out and write sub plans....so this was God's little sneaky way of telling me, he was going to make sure that I rested entirely!

Jeff has been soooo good to me, I swear I am the luckiest girl in the world. Like I said, usually when I am sick, I can truck through it. It was really bad this time, and combined with pregnancy...I was DOWN and OUT for 4 full days! He has made me dinner each night, picked me up my favorite Egg Drop Soup (and so did my sweet mom), brought me to the doctor, picked up my medicine, beeeeeen oh so patient with me, and just truly the most caring man alive. I have probably kept him up every night between my coughing and nightly bathroom breaks. I felt horrible as I was just a lump on the couch as he worked hard to clean the house, what a sweet man!

Anyhow, before the sickness set in 100% on Saturday morning....we did have some Friday night fun! I started my first chalkboard tracker entry. I got this idea from many Mommy-to-be blogs on Pinterest, so I so had to do it. The chalkboard will serve as my pregnancy and bump tracker throughout this journey with Baby Kiss. I have been waiting to use it for weeks, but not much of a bump has been forming. Recently, I have a slight hint of a bump...nothing major but Jeff and I can tell, so I decided to start the Chalkboard Tracker last Friday...I mean I was already 15 1/2 weeks!

My First Attempt at the Chalkboard Tracker!

The puppies decided they wanted to help...annnnd decided to walk on it and spread chalkdust all over!
Gotta give that chalk a slight blow to clear the dust out of the way! I do plan to paint and or change the frame into something slightly more fancy! After all, I will be using it weekly!

The beginnings of a Baby Bump.... :)
15 1/2 Weeks!                    Baby Kiss is the size of a Navel Orange

Mr. Kiss and I holding our Baby Kiss...I mean Baby Orange! What a good sport he is!

After taking our super fun 15 1/2 week photos with the chalboard tracker...We headed to Cabela's for some FREE food and fun. We were on the VIP list for an employee pricing event. We first went to this even last year, they hide 10 boxes throughout the store for guests to find to have a chance at a big prize. We LOVE this kind of stuff, so we were totally excited to go on a wild goose chase again this year to find these boxes, seeing as we were unsuccessful last year! We were ready!
As soon as we got there we began our search...I swear we should go on the Amazing Race, we would have a blast and make a phenomenal team!

We searched HIGH and LOW, UNDER and INSIDE....upstairs and downstairs....and for those of you that don't know, Cabela's is a GIGANTIC store...after 2 hours of searching and NO SUCCESS (where could those boxes be?), at 10:00pm, we gave up. My little pregnant self had had its exercise for the day and was EXTREMELY exhausted...
I could search no more!
I will say the neatest thing I found was this super SLED! I would love to buy this $200 wooden, top of the line toboggan for Baby Kiss...too bad we live in TEXAS. Sure beats my old plastic blue one that Chet and I had as kids, however, that's probably the more practical approach given our Winter surroundings or lack there of!

After a long night of searching, these 2 VIP members were ready to turn in their badges....until Mr. Kiss decided at 10:00 that this was the perfect time to buy his Benelli M2 shotgun he had been saving up for...so then it was another 1 1/2 of waiting for and clearing the purchase before we were finally on our way home. Long night...but such an adventure! I have so much fun with even the silliest things with Mr. Kiss! I do love him and his family traditions!

First Grade Friends Find Out the News...

Oh my! What a fun day it has been! Today was the day I decided to share the news with my fabulous first graders that Baby Kiss is on the way! What a hilarious experience it was! It is a day I NEVER want to forget! After the fact, I was seriously so bummed that I didn't think to video it for Jeff so he could see them in action! So, in place of the video I so sadly did not capture, I decided to post each picture I revealed and the hilarious comments they made, as they came to realize what news I was sharing with them, so that I can always remember what fun we had!

After many weeks of nerves, going back and forth on when to tell my first graders, how to tell them, do I tell the parents first, or in a letter....or just let the kids tell them. This was such a new experience for me. My team of first grade teachers and principal knew, but that was it....not even the other staff members! My principal and I decided we would tell the staff today at the staff meeting in a fun way, so I knew I had to tell my kids before the news spread like wild fire and they became the last ones to know! I would die if an older kiddo said something in the hallway and my kids were like, what is she talking about Mrs. Kiss?

I started out by telling them that I had a big secret to share with them, and they were the first ones in the school to find out. I put the announcement that we sent out to friends and family on the projector screen so it was huge, so they could all see it super close up! I covered each of the 9 images with a mini sticky note and told them we were going to be using our inferencing skills and picture clues to make a smart guess about the message that these pictures could be trying to tell us. One at a time I pulled off a sticky note, and we discussed the clues in the picture and what each of them could mean to us....I know I already uploaded these pictures on my previous post but I had to load them again, so that as you read the comments you know which picture it aligns with. I was laughing inside the entire time, I wish someone else...especially Jeff could have been there to experience it first hand!

Here are the comments from my fabulous little first graders...

Kids: "You and Mr. Kiss are on your honeymoon!"
Kids: "Oh...you are in the Old West!"
Mrs. Kiss: "What do you notice about these...what are these?"
Kids: "They are Mr. Kiss' boots!"
Mrs. Kiss: "Well you can't tell but they are too tiny to be just right for Mr. Kiss, he has his boots on!"

Mrs. Kiss: "Who's boots are these?"
Kids: "Mr. Kiss' boots" (they have seen them before becasue I brought them to school for a Good Fit Book Lesson...lol they loved seeing his BIG boots!)
Mrs. Kiss: "Who's boots are these?"
Kids: "Yours!"
Mrs. Kiss: "Well, then who are tiny things for?"
Kids: "Your kid, wait you don't have one."
"It's for a surprise"
                                       "It's for your dogs!"
Mrs. Kiss: "Well, I have 2 puppies and they both have 4 feet, is that enough boots for my dogs' feet?"
                                     Kids: "No"  "Hmmm...."

"The boots are for you to give to someone special."
                "You're on your honeymoon!"
Mrs. Kiss: "You're right, my hands are in the shape of a heart, it means I am showing love for something, what could that be?"
Kids: "Your love for Mr. Kiss"
"Your love on your honeymoon!"
"You're having a baby."
Mrs. Kiss: "What would give you the clue for that guess?"
Kids: "You're hands are in a heart to show love for your baby because they are over your tummy!"

Mrs. Kiss: "Now here is an addition sentence. It has an addition symbol between the 2 parts, Mr. and Mrs. Kiss and it says it equals 3, how could that be? If Mr. Kiss is 1 and the sentence has to equal 3, what would the other part have to be to equal 3?"
Kids: "2, 2 and 1 make 3 in all"
Kids: "The 2 could mean you and the baby in your belly."

Mrs. Kiss: "This one says Coming Soon...5, which means May, 7, which means the 7th day, and 13, which means 2013."

Kids: (Lightbulbs went on and smiles came out like crazy) "You are having a baby! Yay!"

As we continued through the other pictures, they just kept repeating, your having a baby, Mrs. Kiss is having a baby....it was like I just told them they were going to have a baby brother. They wanted to know, when he/she would be coming, would they get to meet Baby Kiss, would they have a substitute, if it was boy what would the name be, if it was a girl what would the name be, etc. They were absolutely elated. I showed them pictures with the first picture of Baby Kiss (our 8 week sonogram), and they thought that was the neatest thing, and thought it was hilarious that the little Baby Kiss didn't fit in those tiny boots quite yet!! One of my little friends was so proud that Baby Kiss might be born in May, just like him, and that was very special to him!

Upon the showing of the final image, the main one in the middle, they began hugging one another and were lost in their excitement. Then it was on our way out the door, and those little ones shared it anywhere they could and with anyone on their way out of school. I was later told one of my kiddos announced it as soon as she walked into the gym to all of the bus and daycare riders! So, yes, news travels fast...even in Elementary School! haha....they were bursting to share the news with everyone! Hours later I received a phone call from a parent who said her little boy could barely make it through the door before he belted out the news...and another email from a parent who said her sweet, little son was already making a list of things to buy for Baby Kiss (same child who wanted to know my high school colors so that he could buy me a Homecoming Mum lol), and had called his grandparents and dad at work to share the news, she said he felt so important and a part of it all! I also received a couple other emails already tonight, from parents so excited to hear the news! Like I said, news travels fast in these parts....haha! I am bracing myself for as the wrath is unleashed tomorrow at school once it starts to trickle to the previous kids and parents I have had in past years at our school!

It is such an amazing feeling to be able to finally share it with EVERYONE in my daily life, including my first graders who are such a huge and important part of my life! I am looking forward to sharing this experience with this group of kiddos, as I know how very special it will be for us all!

Following my surge of excitement from sharing it with my first graders, we later then shared it with the staff...my savvy, super Principal (who I absolutely love, and basically guessed that I was pregnant at 8 weeks lol) decided to incorporate it with introducing a new technological tool to integrate use of the IPAD in the classroom, because she is just full of FUN like that. She showed us an app that lets you or kids write things to go on the screen or a powerpoint or something projected. She went to various people in the room to try it out....she had one person write "Someone", another wrote "is", "having" (once the person wrote that people started looking around trying to figure out who it was because they knew), another wrote "a", and the last person was asked to right "baby" but she was hesitant, (kinda like it's not me having the baby). Then, my principal read it aloud and then the next slide was the front of our announcement that we sent out and that I shared with the kids. Everyone was super excited, and gave a round of applause! I think some of them suspected it was me, but many of them had no clue and were so surprised! Phew, I am so glad it's out in the open and all are in the know...
it's beginning to finally feel REAL! Yay for the 2nd Trimester!

A Celebration of the 13th Week!

Woo hoo! I can't believe it...we can nearly check the first trimester off! In celebration of our 3rd month milestone...we had my FABULOUS mom take us out last Sunday to snap some celebration shots for our soon-to-be sent-out pregnancy announcements! Of course, I did my research and found some of the most fun shots to take to announce an arrival of a little one, long before we set out on this Sunday adventure.

I had always loved the use of the 2 pairs of adult shoes and the tiny baby shoes. I loved the TOMS in a couple pregnancy announcements I had seen, however, those of you that know Jeff, know he is not really the sporter of the ONE for ONE TOMS styled shoe, so I didn't want him to buy a pair just for the pics (even though I would have loved to buy a new pair for the pics for us BOTH). Then I thought of using Converse, I have my gray pair, and he has to have a black pair for Chet and Katie's wedding, however, Converse really doesn't capture us...but when I mentioned the boots, Jeff was totally SOLD! I wasn't so sure, because we are the total cowboy, country type...but boy do we love to wear our cowboy boots, and after all, we do live in TEXAS...as my friend Katie put it "The boots are totally you and Jeff...you guys are like Urban Cowboy!" So, for the Cowboy boots we went...of course we both have our boots already, each a black and brown pair...now it just mattered which baby boots we could find that were cute, but not gender specific! Off to Cavender's Boot City we went...it was officially our first time to see that they had a section for tiny cowboys and cowgirls, much less be walking through it! After looking at all of the totally GENDER specific boots, we found a couple pairs that could go either way and we settled on a cute little tan pair of Old West boots....perfect for our pictures!

On Sunday, we headed to a park with our boots, chalkboards, chalk, sonogram photo, and list of picture ideas, so I wouldn't forget all of the MUST DO shots that I had been inspired by on blogs! Here is a peek at what my photographer of a mom captured that day!

A Family of Boots...and one on the WAY!

These boots were made for BABY KISS...
though he/she is slightly too tiny for them in this 8 week photo!
So I must say...while we were at the park taking these pictures, there were tons of other families there too taking family pictures and such. One of them had a little girl wearing these SAME exact boots...hmmm...could that have been a sign???? We shall see! But now we know for sure they can go either way...boy boots or girl boots!

Blog Inspired, Super Fun "We Are Pregnant" Shots!
Pregnant Belly...due 5.7.2013

The Infamous Chalkboard with the "top secret" addition sentence!

And a few of our own little cute, "we're having a baby" creations...

And of course...some lovey, dovey of Mr. and Mrs. Kiss...before the little one comes!

All of this fun got me sooooo excited to create the announcement and get them sent out ASAP! My plan was to send them out around our 14th week! I looked on all kinds of card creator sites that I had used in the past and everything was so specific...from Christmas, to Halloween, to New Baby Girl, Weddings, nothing seemed to just be general and fit what I needed. Then...I stumbled upon this fabulous lady's ETSY site. You send her the pics and she creates either a front and back design for you for $16.99 or a front only design for $12.99. You can purchase the design only and have them printed at your local photo place...or order card stock photo cards and envelopes through her and waive the design fee and pay about an average of $1 a card (which is very reasonable). We had planned on ordering through her, but then Jeff's mom was able to hook us up with a local printer...and viola...they should be ready by this weekend! I would highly recommend her if you are in need of any photo cards and are looking for something slightly more custom in regards to font, layout, wording, etc! She was FABULOUS to work with, very quick on getting proofs and edits back to me!

Check her site out...

Here's the sneak peek of our AMAZING and SUPER FUN ANNOUNCEMENTS!

(I had to block out our address for the web...excuse the brown blob)

I give Breanna at Pretty Please all of the credit for the fabulous design...and my mom ALL of the credit for spending a couple hours with us on Sunday to capture these awesome images that we will remember forever! I hope you love them as much as we do!
