A Rose By Any Other NAME Would Smell as Sweet!

Last week I showed my first graders the 3D pictures of our sweet little baby girl! They were amazed and loved having the chance to see her! We took a good look at the pictures and voted on what we thought was the BEST name for Lil' Miss Kiss and made a graph. The two choices we have been going back and forth on since December were Kinsley and McKinli! They knew the voting was all for fun and just to help Mr. and Mrs. Kiss decide...but the winning name might not end up being her name for sure! I told them to think about if she was their baby sister, what would they like to call her, and which name looks like it fits her best! Of course I didn't let them know that we had already chosen a name that past weekend, and I didn't let them know our thoughts until after the voting took place. After the voting, I added one vote for Kinsley (Mrs. Kiss' vote) and one vote for McKinli (Mr. Kiss' vote). They took it all very seriously, and had so much fun with it! They love being so involved with the Baby Kiss and it makes it so much fun for me!

The Results of the First Grade Voting!
According to the first graders, the BEST name for Lil' Miss Kiss is KINSLEY Elizabeth Kiss, as opposed to McKinli Elizabeth Kiss!

Here are some of their reasons as to why they voted the way they did...

Baby Kiss should be named Kinsley because...
she looks like her name should be Kinsley. -Sumaia and Darian
she looks like a Kinsley and you have a K in your first name and she will have a K. -Jennifer
it starts with the letter K like Mrs. Kiss does and she can also have a last name like your last name. I think it will be a good name. -Caeden
it will be neat because you will both start with a K and have the same middle name and last name too! That will be neat! -Maddie

Baby Kiss should be named McKinli because...
she looks like a McKinli. -Dylan
it kinda goes with her middle name. -Jesse
it's a cute name, it sounds like a nice name and she looks like a McKinli. -Liv
she looks like a McKinli, and if it was McKinli it would match my neighbor's name! -Kasey

We had some big decision making of our own to do, Mr. Kiss and I. We had to decide on the name that would soon become tied to the daily identity of this sweet little lady! It was a BIG decision but we were ready to make it! After looking at her 3D pictures all weekend, the spelling, and writing of the name...it was clear she needed a sweet, girly name to match her sweet little face! We both loved both of the names...but the more and more we though about it...one just seemed more fitting than the other in more ways than one....and the verdict is...

McKinli and Kinsley have been our top 2 choices since we
foundout she was a baby girl in December!
Khloe was not fitting, Kensington was too long and too formal, Kamree...Jeff didn't love since it sounds like the name of a car, Toyota Camry....so that left us with our top 2 choices!
It was hard for him to cross it off...he sure loved McKinli sooo very much...as did I! For the record we still do LOVE it...maybe we will save it for Baby Kiss number 2 if there is second
Lil' Miss Kiss in our future! :)

We thought Kinsley fits her so incredibly well! We can picture ourselves calling her that each and every day! I can only imagine, I am sure she will be just as much fun as her name!
Here are some of the other reasons we made our decision!

1. It matches her sweet face perfectly
2. How pretty it looks when written
3. It begins with a K!
4. The structure of the name is similar to Kristen
5. It has a K, i, n, s, and e....just like Kristen!
6. The s and e are in the same place as in Kristen, with a tall letter (l or t) in between
7. There are 7 letters in it...just like Kristen and Jeffrey
8. How it sounds with Elizabeth
9. How cute will it be to have little cousins named Kinsley and Korbin Kiss
(her cousin Korbin was born March 1st and will be just 2 months older than her)
